Since 2024, I have been participating in the Music Encoding Initiative (MEI). MEI is the name of the initiative, the type of code, and the resulting file format. It is a preferred file format by the Library of Congress for long-term preservation of and access to musical works. MEI files can also be used to conduct data analysis on large numbers of scores.
My encoding process begins when I enter a score manually into MuseScore. From there, I use mei-friend to clean up the code. My encoding has primarily informed my work with accessible music scores, but other projects I have worked on include:
